Before Obama took office in January, he was one of the most popular presidents we have ever had because he seemed more "human" the ones in the past. Most people were expecting so many great things from him and an answer to every one of our problems. But, our country is still in a recession, the housing market is expected to go down even more, and unemployment rates are reaching record highs. What people don't understand is that to solve these issues it will take more than one president to fix this country and it's not going to be instantaneous. It will probably take more than one term in office to make things better, let alone have a solution to all our troubles.
I believe Obama decided to become president at the wrong time. There are so many issues in our country and people expect so much from him. He is tackling each problem one at a time, trying very hard to get a bill for a health care reform passed and to make everyone as satisfied as possible. Considering the shape our country is in, I wouldn't say he hasn't done anything because he really is trying to fix everything and is really pushing reform. But, it's taking longer then most people believed it would and as a result people are becoming upset and losing faith in our nation's government.
I definitely agree with what you are saying. I believe there is a TON of pressure on Obama to take care of all the "bad" things going on with our nation. However Obama knew this going into elections. He understood what he got himself into.
ReplyDeleteThe people of the U.S. definitely need to understand that they must be realistic when it comes to solving problems in our country. IT takes time, and effort, a lot of it too.
I do agree that it will take several years for the problem the United States has today to go away. The problem is that Obama’s campaign was based so much on change that the people actually expected change, and quickly. So, his message is actually in a way damaging his presidency, I do not believe Obama will make a critical change in today’s America, but lets hope he proves me wrong.
ReplyDeleteWell, what can you expect from a "fast food nation?" We want everything ASAP - and we don't want to have anything to do with solving the problems.
ReplyDeleteEvery citizen of this country needs to take a step back and realize that the only way to solve our issues is to work together, compromise, and remember that patience is indeed a virtue. The world cannot be changed by one man alone and those that expect one man to do all the work for an entire country need a reality check.
